New Delhi: Delhi Police: Indian cricket team accused of stealing money and equipment
Indian cricket captain Ajit Agarwal and his wife and two daughters were arrested on Friday night on suspicion of stealing a total of Rs. 7,500 from a business in south Delhi and selling it to a minor.
The Agarwals were detained in a local court, police said.
Police said the Agarws were part of a team of players who are contracted to play in India’s top international league, the IPL, which has attracted interest from overseas.
They are accused of running a business called the A-Team which is based at the residential premises of Ajit’s brother and sister, police sources said.
They are accused to have stolen from the business around Rs. 5 lakh.
Police said the duo were arrested at the ATS office in South Delhi’s Naka-Bharathi Nagar area and would appear before a magistrate on Saturday.
