How much money will Duke earn from the ACC Tournament?
Duke’s basketball program has been on a tear since the arrival of head coach Mike Krzyzewski and the Blue Devils went 10-0 in the 2014-15 season.
This year, Duke is poised to make an appearance at the ACC Championship Game and will be the top seed.
In the 2015-16 season, Duke was able to earn $1.1 billion from the tournament.
Duke will likely earn $750,000 per game, which is a great amount of money for a school that has not had much success in recent years.
The total revenue Duke has generated during the last three years is $1,936 million.
In order to break even on that, Duke will need to win the conference tournament, which will take place on March 1 and March 8.
That means that if the Blue Demons win their first ACC Tournament game in 2019, they will have earned $4.9 million.
According to ESPN’s Adam Amin, Duke’s total revenue during the first three years of Krzyzanek’s tenure is more than $3 billion.
It is unclear what the future holds for Duke and Krzyznewski, but if the Duke basketball program continues its trend of winning the ACC tournament and the ACC Basketball Championship, it could earn as much as $6 billion annually.
